Over the past 5 decades, the variety of working-class and conservative voices in universities, the mainstream media, and different establishments of elite culture has shrunk to a sprinkling. Where liberalism seeks to stage human objectives, liberal schooling seeks to lift them. It does so by exposing students not to the mediocre, the typical, or the average, but to works of human greatness that express and ennoble our frequent humanity.
