Academics

Author Joel Stein On Sticking Up For The Mental Elite

I’ve all the time assumed that ‘elite’ was simply the praise the arrogant pay to themselves. In any case, and oddly for an argument about self-described ‘elite’ training, these essays don’t hassle interrogating the time period ‘elite’ and what precisely it’s supposed to mean, past some obscure allusion to academic excellence supposedly unavailable elsewhere. But educational excellence – whether or not by way of students, academics, analysis – may be found in every college, whether or not or not it is thought of ‘elite’. I confess to not being very conversant in Australia’s university system – would I be incorrect in pondering that the Group of Eight represents an elite?
